Hi all thought I would let you know what has been happening to my nephew Joe he is now 12 weeks old last week Gemma was feeding him (through the tube) he was really sick this went on for 3 feeds Gemma had to take him to the hospital where he was admitted Gemma had to go home to see to her daughter but was back and forth all the time one day she had a sick bug her-self so couldent go to see Joe my mum and sister went in to see him (it was in the evening) when they saw Joe he was covered with sick (which had gone stiff on his baby grow) he had pulled out his feeding tube and his nappy was full (that to was hard) my mum asked the nurse when they had seen Joe last the nurse said only 20 min ago (mum knew that was not true) she then asked the nurse to give Joe a bath the other nurse told mum to do it her-self that was it my mum went nuts so did Ann they took photos of Joe and the state he was in they reported the ward the next day showing the photos to the one's in charge the nurse did see to him after mum calmed down like she said "the poor little thing has been through so much in his short life and he still has much more to go through " Joe is now home but we all are so upset with the way a baby was treated I just hope the nurses do not have to go through the same thing with there children sorry for the rant but it has really upset me Mary L

Don`t say sorry Mary - each and everyone of us can understand how you feel. Poor little Joe, he doesn`t deserve to be neglected like that. I just don`t know what things are coming to, when a precious little one is left in such a state. I`m so pleased your mum took photos - they should be sent to every newspaper in the land, and to the offices of every political party. Thank goodness Joe is home again, with the people who love him most, and will care for him every second of the day. Take care, Kathleen x

That made me cry!
I am glad they took photos, they must report this to the Head Nurse and Dr on the SCBU team.
Poor baby Joe! I am still keeping him in prayers, bless him.
We had an issue with Marie whe she was born preemie...they had put in a tube so after I breast fed I could add more milk through this tube in her nose. Through bad communication this tube was taken out too soon and so she had to have it put back in again, and then it happened AGAIN! She ended up with a mark on her little face from the tape and was very distressed indeed, as was I!
Love, Amanda

This really uspet me too Mary - it's unbelievable. Am so glad Joe is safe and is home but do wonder how many other babies are suffering at the hands of the nurse/s who don't appear to give damn. I think you should send the photos in to the hospital management team.

Mary I was so sorry to hear what poor little Joe had endured. It was shocking and neglectful. Had it been any one of us that had done something like that, the social services would've been called immediately. I know that hospital staff are overworked but it was obviously not the case with Joe.
I'm really glad that he's home and well and you can be sure that he'll be better cared for by loving parents. Bless him. x

well, mary, I am deeply shocked by this.
How awful.
You know Bernice was 6 wks prem and had a tube. She couldnt keep her milk down. and then I couldnt make it etc. She had this milk from the chemist for babies with a lot of reflux.
Enfamil AR
the paediatrician recommended it and we got it on prescription for her. You can order it in from the chemist without one and it costs about the same as cow and gate.
it made such a difference to her and us!
She was a nightmare to feed- took over an hour to have an ounce- oooh it seemed to go on forever. But she got through it and the change of milk helped her so much.
Anyway. Pleased they complained. I would have too.
Love

Just picked this up Mary- I'm disgusted with the hospital!! How can they treat a little baby like that Good that pics were taken though. I'm glad to hear little Joe is now back home, where he is getting the love and care he deserves.

Mary, have only just caught up with this thread. Poor Joe, it is disgraceful, they leave a small baby in that condition. I am glad that they complained. Sending you and your family best wishes for Joe and his operation.
